FOUR ON THE FLOOR – ZACH MCPETERS OF MCPETERS GUITARS

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment.

Zach McPeters is making some great guitars out of Nashville riding the line of familiar semi-hollow vintage and unique modern design. If you are not familiar with McPeters Guitars do yourself a favor and check him out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. 1. Ibanez – Tube Screamer Overdrive with Analog Man 808 / Silver Mods

“I’ve played a ton of over Drives and I know this one probably a little bit bland to some folks taste, but with every guitar and amp that I have this one does the trick and it just sounds fantastic. I’ve had it for about ten years now and every time I take it off the board, it goes back on. I am a big U2 fan and I recall reading that the Edge used an Analog Man modded Tube Screamer, so I decided I had to give it a go and its been on my board ever since.”

2. Diamond – CPR-1 Compressor

“I love the music from the 60’s like The Byrds and that super compressed stuff, so I gotta have a little compression in my signal. Its just one of those pedals that brightens things up a little bit. I miss it when it is not there so it is an always-on pedal for me. There is something unique about the Diamond Compressor. One of the things I really like about it is that it has an EQ on it, and some compressors I have played in the past seem to darken the sound so you can bring it up to where you amp wants it to sound. It is pretty straight forward pedal It is an optical compressor – I’m not smart enough to know what that means on the backend, but as soon as I played through it, I knew it was the sound I wanted. I highly recommend it.”

3. Analog Man – ARDX20 Analog Delay

“I use this pedal with the Analogman Amazeo Controller which allows me to have an analog delay with the option to have two different speed settings, tap tempo, and the option to add modulation. I will typically set one of the channels to do a dotted eight with a tap delay, and the other will be a slap-back for some more old-school stuff. I love the flavor of the pedal. For an analog delay pedal, it is super flexible and the best delay I’ve come across yet.”

4. Wampler – Faux Spring Reverb

“This is the closest thing I can find to an outboard tube reverb. I have tried a ton of reverb pedals and this is definitely the one. It sounds the most natural in a pedal format to my ears.”
