FOUR ON THE FLOOR – BILLY ROWE OF ROCK N ROLL RELICS GUITARS

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment.

Billy Rowe may just be Rock N’ Roll fan Numero Uno, and it is evident in the awesome reliced guitars he builds and the tones he chases. If you are not familiar with Rock N Roll Relics do yourself a favor and check him out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out Billy’s choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. MXR – M300 Reverb

“I always have a reverb pedal on, just a little bit, very simple. I used to use BOSS which is great but I really do like this one. I love having a little air behind the tone when I’m doing Rhythms. Its a really solid pedal.”

2. SoloDallas – Schaffer-Vega Replica

“This is a replica of the original wireless systems that all the great rock bands were using in the 1970’s but in a pedal format. He is a really big AC/DC nut as am I, and it turns out, that Angus Young recorded everything from Powerage to Back In Black with this live wireless unit in the studio. The wireless unit had a little bit of an overdrive to it when the volume was pushed. When he found this out he made the connection that this was the magic element that created Angus’ sound on the recordings, so he replicated that bit of magic into a pedal. So if you are into that tone, and you are using this it will take to that special place, It’s just awesome.

3. MXR Custom Audio Electronics – MC401 Line Boost

“I use this for a little more kick for solos and stuff. I like to keep my tone simple and don’t like it to change when I do a solo, so this does the job. I’ve been using this for a couple years now.”

4. BOSS – OC-2 Octave

“I use this when I’m playing slide. If you are familiar with Joe Perry’s playing on Draw the line (Aerosmith) then you know that sound, and it is created by using an octave pedal. Ace Frehley used an octave pedal too and those are two of my guitar heroes, so I do too! It thickens things up and gives it a little more oompf in the tone for slide playing. It makes a big difference for me.”
