FOUR ON THE FLOOR-ALEX MILLAR OF ZANDER CIRCUITRY

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment. This is Alex’s second time on the show so be sure to check out his previous episode and Four On The Floor as well. He picked some great pedals again! If you are not familiar with Zander Circuitry do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. Hudson Electronics – Broadcast Preamplifier

“I had the chance to play one at one of the shows I was at after hearing about seeing all the hype about it kind of everywhere. I kind of went into it with that attitude of, I everyone’s been hyping it up, I’m probably not even gonna like it, you know, It’s been overblown or whatever. I ended up really, really liking it. It’s got that cool kind of like recording console, like plugging straight into the desk kind of sound, not really like a conventional, soft overdrive or anything like that. It covers everything from the light overdrive through to pretty high gain and quite fuzzy on the, on the higher end of the gain side. The praise is well deserved.

2. Frost Giant Electronics – Soma Fuzz

“You know how much I love a Smashing Pumpkins reference, right? This is a take on the Big Muff with a bit more control over the mids and stuff. I had the pleasure of meeting Eric Calvert when we were at the same booth at NAMM, he’s a super nice guy. Um, and yeah, he just makes this really cool. He just makes a load of cool pedals, kind of aimed at the doom guys so a lot of like heavy fuzz stuff. This is one of my favorite distortion/fuzz effects.”

3. Champion Leccy – Woozy

“This is from our good friend Wooly. It is kind of weird glitchy chorus/vibrato/tremolo. Chorus and Vibrato are two of my favorite effects and this just kind of takes it to another level. I just, I love the kind of crazy glitchiness of it.”

4.
Cooper FX – Arcades Delay/Reverb Combo

I’m selecting this specifically with the reverb cartridge. So if anyone hasn’t already seen it, it’s almost like an old video game consoles, I suppose, like Nintendo and Atari. It has a little slot where you can put these little memory cards, that have different effects programmed in. So there’s a delay one and a reverb one, I think a modulation one. Its just nice to see that he’s finally done it. I know a few companies have tried to do the whole cartridge thing before and it’s not really fully taken off. He’s really kind of smashed it out and seems to have done it really well and is really thought out.
