FOUR ON THE FLOOR-LEON WRIGHT OF PELICAN NOISEWORKS

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment. Leon has a unique approach to the types of pedals he creates and it is clear he appreciates that in other pedals based on his selections. If you are not familiar with Pelican Noiseworks do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. Lollygagger FX – Canaglia Overdrive

“It is SO good–yeah, well I’d say a special little pedal, but it’s huge. I just like how it keeps the full frequency range intact and then just kind of gives it more kind of a full bandwidth. It’s massively powered too. It sounds great all the way around and I’ve actually sent it back to him to get a refinished once before because I used it so much. The Canaglia is truly a top class pedal.

2.
Spruce Effects – Giganteum Drive

“I like the Germanium boost that he put in this pedal, that just makes it sound deliciously dirty – not clean at all. The Giganteum has another side to it that is an overdrive which sounds great too.

3. Tomkat Pedals- Violet Muffer

It’s a fantastic sounding muff –there’s no other way to say it. It just sounds brilliant. There’s something about the top end on this one that really does it for me. He has little switches inside that allow you to change the clipping, customizing it even further.

4. Chase Bliss – Thermae Analog Delay And Harmonizer

The thing is ridiculously cool. I feel like I’ve gotten into its functionality pretty far. I’ve gotten into the midi control and started, you know, sending it CC messages to do different things. And then I had to pull back cause I realized I went too far. I’ve explored it as deep as I’m comfortable with exploring it, then I just forget how to get back to that sound that I had before haha! You just set that thing up as a basic delay and then start adding in some of the intervals and weirdness and you can’t get a bad sound out of it.
