FOUR ON THE FLOOR-CARL OF ELECTROFOODS ULTD.

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment. Carl has an eclectic world of gear, and the pedals he and his partner Matt make fall right in line. If you are not familiar with Electrofoods Ultd. do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. AnalogMan Modded Maxon – 808 Tube Screamer Overdrive (Yes we know it says Ibanez)

“This pedal has been on my board and pretty much every board for a long time. I didn’t realize it until I opened it up that it is in the wrong enclosure which makes it even more interesting. This us a Maxon pedal inside an Ibanez enclosure. I think the AnalogMan mod makes it a little bit sweeter. I think it’s slightly less gritty on the gain. It’s still got the same amount of gain, but it’s a little bit of something.

2. Electronic Audio Experiments – Halberd (Prototype)

“It’s not released yet but John Snyder was nice enough to send us one. This pedal is pretty, pretty awesome and apparently has only gotten better since we had the Prototype. It’s a drive pedal. So he took the preamp in The Sending, another Electronic Audio Experiments pedal, and put two of them into a pedal and then just tweaked the hell out of both of them. They are cascading preamps and they’re really interesting. They’re each dialed-in differently. One of them is Germanium, one of them is silicone I believe at this point, although that, that’s one of the things that keeps changing beyond the prototype. It’s a great pedal and it runs on boosted high voltage rails and it’s just got this like this kind of jumpy, immediate distortion. It sounds like a lot of different things from a lot of classic, grunge bands, but also can be like the sweetest little overdrive you ever heard.”

3. Champion Leccy – Woozy Lo-fi Modulation Warped Tape Echo

“We love Wooly (founder of Champion Leccy). He’s a great dude. This pedal Is wild, there’s a lot to it. It’s kind of a chorusy feel to it and there’s suboctave, and a warped-ness to it sometimes. The thing I love about it is like the way the repeats come at you in ways like you can’t predict and didn’t expect, and they’re chopped and screwed and all over the place and it’s just shifting and bending wildly during the repeat. I’ve seen bass players use it for like a whole song, but the way I use it on guitar would be an effect for a particular moment. It’s wild.”

4. Electronic Audio Experiments – The Sending Analog Delay

So another one from EAE. I feel like there’s a lot of things that you can do with this pedal. There are a lot of knobs and options and I just think it’s a really nice sounding delay and the preamp in it is great and does something different than a lot of the like bucket brigade sort of style stuff out there, which I do love those things, but this is something just a little bit different. I think it’s a pretty unique pedal and really fun.
