FOUR ON THE FLOOR-KYLE MCINTYRE OF TONE JERKS PODCAST

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment. Kyle is a co-host of The Tone Jerks Podcast and a gear lover that plays bass so his choices might say more about his pedal needs than the typical guitarist. If you are not familiar with Tone Jerks Podcast do yourself a favor and check them out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. TC Electronic – Polytune 2 Mini Noir

“I’m a bassist so get that out of the way first. So everything I say after this is null and void to most people, probably. The Polytune works really good for outside, and for bright lights. I’ve had other tuners that kinda suck when you get to when you get outside or just low light. It does its job and that’s what I love about it. It doesn’t make noise like other tuners either.

2. Ground Control Audio – Serpens Optical Boost/Compressor

“It’s optical which is cool and I use it to control the clip. I’m a sucker for graphics, so like I’m like, I don’t care what that sounds like, I want it. I have it just barely there so it just evens out my tone. I have a smaller amp and I don’t want to flub out so that’s what I really use it for is just keeping everything nice and smooth.”

3. Earthquaker Devices – Westwood Drive Manipulator

“I use it just for light dirt. I like having a little bit of grit on there, stand out a little bit. I use it really for the EQ though. The EQ is really nice on the Westwood. I have it set at unity for no added volume and just use really use that EQ to sculpt and get what I want out of the sound.”

4. Tech 21 – Bass Driver

I use it as a DI and as an amp itself —it’s really for the front of the house if they need it. It works really well into an amp too. I can add some dirt if I really wanted to. I’ve never had a problem with it. It’s always been there for me and on occasion, It’s rescued me.
