Jeff Schroeder, guitarist for Smashing Pumpkins makes a return appearance on our podcast and share a new Four On The Floor to go along with his their 2018 tour. 1. Eventide – H9 Core Harmonizer Multi-Effect Pedal
“This is a mainstay. I have it on my touring rig now and I have one at home, and I used one on the new upcoming Smashing Pumpkins release as well. In fact, James (Iha) and Billy (Corgan) both ended up using one on it as well. Although not very “Rock N Roll” I do use the iPad to dial-in the sounds I want because it is so easy. It is a fantastic piece of gear.”

2. Line 6 – HX Effects Multi-Effects Pedal
“This basically a stompbox modeler. I use this at home and in the studio, not on my touring rig. Billy uses one on tour though. In fact it his only pedal. All his solo sounds, all the phasers, distortions, fuzzes are all coming from this HX FX. I use it on the new release as well. It’s pretty great.”

3. Spaceman Effects – Mercury IV
“This is a new piece of gear I use every night on tour. This is a pedal he has been creating versions for as time progresses and this is version 4. It’s basically a boost with a germanium base. As you turn it up it will rais the Db, but with the other knob, you can also add more of the germanium diode, which colors the sound the way you would want it to. And it really responds to how hard or soft you are playing the guitar. It also has a hi and lo cut and a few dip switches to further dial in the tone you want. If you open it up, the guts are point-to-point and are impeccable. He really does great work. This is a super musical pedal.”

4. Electro-Harmonix- SYNTH9 Synthesizer Machine
“I have to use this pedal every night on tour as well. It is a really cool pedal. I originally got the Mello 9 to replicate mellotron sounds on the guitar because I’m not a very good keyboard player, and when I’m recording at home I wanted a cool keyboard part so that really worked. I liked it so much that for this tour I play it on “Tonight, Tonight” on the string parts, along with our keyboard player. It’s a really cool pedal.”
