FOUR ON THE FLOOR – ERIC MERROW OF MERROW VISUALS

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment.

Eric is making some of the most useful pedal and gear demos out there. He has only been on the scene for a short time but is making an impact. If you are not familiar with Eric Merrow do yourself a favor and check him out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out Eric’s choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. Fulltone – OCD Overdrive

“I picked it mostly because it can be a great full range distortion sound, a clean boost or even something you can use to alter your guitars EQ. This was the first pedal on my chain for a long time. They actually have several versions, but I don’t think most people know that. It’s just a great pedal, and you can get one anywhere for a great price.”

2. Fuzzrocious -Blast Furnace Fuzz and Delay

“It’s just such a cool fuzz, simple and straight to the point. Its a fuzz on one side and a momentary delay on the other. It also has a tone switch in the middle that gives you a mid-scoop Big Muff type sound, or lets you keep all the mids in. I just sounds so great. It retains a lot of your guitar characteristics. Its pretty heavy too so you can go to the neck pickup and roll off your tone and it gets very synthy sounding too.”

3. TC Electronic – Hall Of Fame 2 Reverb

“I like the new Version 2 of the HOF. I generally lean to using reverb as an effect rather than an always-on ambience type thing. If I hit a delay I want it to decay for a couple seconds rather than make it seem like I’m in a small room. There is such a great range of variables already in the pedal but it also has The Tone Print feature so you can upload more if you like.”

4. TC Electronic- Flashback 2 Delay

“I would opt for the newer Version 2 for this pedal. It has a footswitch function called Mash Switch. If you hold it down you can control some of the pedals parameters like feedback and decay. It is also pressure sensitive so you have even more control options based on how hard or light you hold it down. This pedal has quite a few delay modes which is really nice. It has a Looper mode which is awesome, and I don’t think many people know about that feature.”
