FOUR ON THE FLOOR-COE SCHNEIDER OF THE FLIPPIN’ FLIPPERS PODCAST

The Guitar Knobsblog

What are your four ‘must-have’ pedals? That is what we ask our guests to share with you in our Four On the Floor podcast segment. Coe Schneider puts a lot of time into the guitar community and he picked a couple of sweet pedals, not yet mentioned in Four On The Floor. If you are not familiar with Coe Schneider do yourself a favor and check him out. He gave us a fantastic interview too! You can hear the episode for yourself right here. Check out these choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. SolidGoldFX – BC 549 Boost

β€œ

Single knob, little finger enclosure, dirty boost. It’s dirty enough that I can use it as a drive pedal. And I love it. It’s my favorite. The knob controls the volume and it’s pretty much the same amount of hair all the way through. You crank the volume and you’re going to push your amp more, so you’re going to get more hair anyway. I’m not very into things being clean and transparent. So when I read that it’s a dirty, nasty boost I had by one and I have never regretted it.

2. Pelican Noiseworks – Half Horse Fuzz

I’m just going to say it’s my favorite fuzz of all time. It’s actually in my guitar too. I have the half horse circuit on a slider switch in my guitar side right on at any time. When I have it on my board, I put it after the boost because I like pushing fuzz with boost and this fuzz, especially because he designed it to be very dynamic to where you can get Jack White or David Gilmore out of it– that was the aim. It’s sputtering and gross and sounds broken on one end or on the other side. It sounds like you are just doing that nice clean solo where every note is perfect and purposeful. It’s simple to operate too.

3. Like My Pedals – Wells Delay

I’m not a big delay and reverb type of guy, but this one is a single box with tap tempo. It’s an analog style pedal, but it’s not like a modulated delay. It kind of is in the vein of an Ibanez AD where it kind of mushes on the repeats doesn’t really like wobble, it squishes if that makes sense. Part of his deal is that is enclosures are all custom for the most part. So he builds them one at a time and you can order one of his stock graphics and colors or you can pick any color from his giant list and he’ll put whatever graphic on it you want. It’s amazing delay.”

4. Retro Mechanical Labs – Clean Overdrivr

There are three iterations of the Clean Overdrivr (not a typo) out there. I have two of the iterations and I prefer the first. It’s a boost circuit and a drive circuit with a toggle switch to choose which one you’re using. It kind of gets that top-mid grind that you get from like a really big wattage amp. A lot of my favorite guitar players would play like Fender Bassman 300’s and stuff with guitar, and it just adds a certain sparkle to that top midrange, and I find that that pedal does that for me.
