FOUR ON THE FLOOR – MILLIMETRIC INSTRUMENTS’ FLORIAN SCHNEIDER

The Guitar Knobsblog

Four On The Floor is our new podcast segment in which we ask our guests to name their four must have pedals excluding tuners. Pretty fun right! If they are a pedal builder they cannot name their own pedals of course (sorry!).

Florian is a returning guest so we thought we should get his FOTF since we didn’t during his first interview. If you are not familiar with Millimetric Instruments, do yourself a favor and check it out. Florian hails from Montreal, Quebec and makes some of the most innovative guitar designs out there. You can hear our interview for yourself right here listen to with your own ears right here. Check out Florian’s choices for his Four On The Floor.

1. Akai – Headrush E2 Delay/Echo/Looper

“It’s my favorite looper and I got it early on in my guitar playing and it helped me to learn how to play guitar. it is a looper and 2 delays, but I mostly use it for the looper. when you learn to play on a looper, especially live, the switching is really important. I’ve tried other loppers and the switching is usually reversed. I play through two amps at the same time but I only use this pedal through one of the amps and I put it as the last pedal in my chain. I do have a few other loop pedals but I’ve never found one that I like more.” Check out the Akai Professional E2 Headrush Delay/Echo/Looping

2. Ground Control Audio – Blood Oath Overdrive

“I am close friends with Seb the founder and engineer at ground Control. I helped him with the development of the circuit and tested the prototypes. It is really nice sounding. It is a low to medium overdrive and you have two stages. you can use the footswitch to boost or overdrive. it is an original circuit, it does not boost your mids like a tube screamer or Klon, its very neutral. Its hard to find the difference between the sound of the pedal and the amp, especially in low gain.” Check out the Ground Control Audio Blood Oath Overdrive V2

3. Montreal Assembly Count To Five Delay

“This is a weird weird weird pedal. It’s a looped/slicer/crazy/delay/pitch shifter thing. When you play a note it will pitch the note to multiple octaves. It will play it backwards and forwards. It’s pretty awesome and actually practical. It is great for unique time signatures or math rock, great for replication. I find that it pushes me to play in new ways that I might not have without this pedal. And it seems to fit with my style of guitar too!” Check out the Montreal Assembly Count To Five Delay

4. Caroline Guitar Company – Meteore Reverb

“To me this is the best reverb on the market right now. It’s a reverb that has an overdrive in the tails. It’s really weird. It has a second foot switch that makes the reverb go into oscillation. And you can control how fast it goes into that oscillation, so you can create swells.” Check out the Caroline Guitar Company Meteore Reverb
