FOUR ON THE FLOOR – RED HOUSE ELECTRONICS

The Guitar Knobsblog

Four On The Floor is our new podcast segment in which we ask our guests to name their four must have pedals excluding tuners. Pretty fun right! If they are a pedal builder they cannot name their own pedals of course.

Mike was such a great guest, listen here to for proof! And he makes some mighty fine pedals too. I’m sure Mike would have liked to name four of his own Red House Pedals but he was a great sport and gave us some other great pedals. So much can be gleaned from a gutiarist’s pedal choices! It’s clear that however Mike strays out into various genres, he is rooted in simplicity and the blues. So here are Mike’s Four On The Floor!

1. IBANEZ WH10 WAH

“Dude I just love a WAH!. There are two different ways I use it. One is if I have intense reverb on with some delay, I slowly sweep it. And for the second way, I set it at a certain position to where it will produce a nasal sound, almost octave like.” Check out the Ibanez WH10 Wah

2. WAMPLER – SOVEREIGN DISTORTION

“I think this is a really underrated pedal. I can use it with ANYTHING. I play through Fender amps, but I mainly use it for a Marshall type high gain sound. But the thing that really separates it from others is that you can turn the volume down and get such a wide range of tonal options. It can go from distortion to overdrive to boost. When I am playing live I usually play a pretty wide range of music and the sovereign distortion allows me to roll my volume and get the effect I need.” Check out the Wampler Sovreign Distortion

3. NEUNABER – STEREO WET REVERB

“What is sweet about this pedal is its simplicity. As a live musician I don’t have time to fiddle around with too many knobs. I have two main settings that I go to with this. I go from very subtle reverb that backs me up, and then my super spacious wet sounding reverb.” Check out the Neunaber Wet Reverb

4. IBANEZ – TUBE SCREAMER

“I play many different genres of music but my background is blues. I grew up on the Stevie Ray Vaughn and John Mayer thing. I always find myself coming back to the blues and a good Tube Screamer will get that done every time.” Check out the Ibanez Tube Screamer
